WOW!!!! All we can say is WOW. Puerto Rico exceeded ALL of our expectations when we planned a trip for three couples to explore the amazing Caribbean forests and seas.
The six of us wanted to try different things, so we planned our trip with three different activities in mind: extreme fishing, rock climbing and zip lining. We got to do all of them, several times!
by My Puerto Rico Experience
We booked a hotel in San Juan (Doubletree by Hilton) close to the airport and main cities/towns: Isla Verde, Condado and Old San Juan. Then we rented a car and headed on for our island adventures. Our first tour was to the mountains in Orocovis, Puerto Rico – an hour and 20 minutes away.
Toro Verde, Orocovis
Upon arriving at Toro Verde, which was hard to find, the staff treated us really well. They gave us tips, chatted with us and were extremely patient. We felt super safe and comfortable, although the drops looked scary. My girlfriend backpedaled a couple of times, but she ended up going through the whole course. In the beginning it was a little complicated to get a hold of the zip lining tricks, but when we got to The Beast, we were already pros. Closed shoes are a must and be ready to go home when you’re done. You’ll be exhausted!
Extreme Fishing Puerto Rico, Piñones
We read a lot of reviews of this crew and I was particularly looking forward to this trip since I’m a fishing freak. We booked online and were surprised with the speedy responses and consistency in communication. This really was a DREAM come true. We caught 3 HUGE tarpons and the Captain was extremely professional. The fishing equipment they used was first class and it was an exhilarating fishing lesson. We loved it so much we went a second time! Both times were equally amazing and different. The first trip was at the crack of dawn and the second one between 4-8pm. Totally worth it!
Rocaliza Adventure Tours
This was the only tour I felt nervous to make. My friends, the ones who planned this day are fitness buffs, and I’m not into exercising whatsoever. The tour includes hiking, rappelling, rock climbing and yes, zip lining. Hiking and zip lining were no issue since we practiced a few days earlier at Toro Verde. Rock climbing on the other hand, was way harder than I anticipated and it was kind of shameful to barely make it a few feet from the ground. Rappelling was my favorite part. I felt like Indiana Jones out there.
These experiences will definitely last a lifetime! I highly recommend planning a trip to Puerto Rico filled with variety and venturing on!
